Planning a family photoshoot in Valencia?
Choosing the best photoshoot locations in Valencia is about much more than finding a beautiful background. It influences the light, the atmosphere, how much your children can move and, ultimately, how your photographs will feel.
Valencia offers remarkably different settings within a relatively small area. You can choose modern architecture, historic Spanish streets, Mediterranean beaches or peaceful green gardens, all without leaving the city.
After photographing families here for years, these are the family photoshoot locations in Valencia we recommend most often and what makes each one special.
How to choose your family photoshoot location in Valencia

There isn’t one location that works best for every family.
The City of Arts and Sciences feels modern, bright and editorial. Valencia’s Old Town is warm, historic and unmistakably Spanish. Patacona Beach is relaxed and Mediterranean, while Turia Gardens offers greenery, space and a quieter atmosphere.
Before recommending a specific photoshoot location, we usually consider your children’s ages, the season, the time of day, where you’re staying and the style of photographs you feel most drawn to.
The goal is not simply to choose the most famous place. It’s to find the setting that feels right for your family.
City of Arts and Sciences

The City of Arts and Sciences is one of Valencia’s most recognisable locations, but it offers much more than an iconic background.
Its white architecture, curved lines and open spaces create photographs that feel clean, bright and slightly editorial. It’s especially beautiful for families who prefer a modern look rather than traditional streets or natural scenery.
There is also plenty of room for children to move. We can walk, explore, play and create variety without asking them to stand still for long periods.
Timing matters here. The white surfaces reflect a lot of light and there is limited shade, so we usually recommend an early morning session, particularly during the warmer months. The location is quieter, the temperature is more comfortable and the light is softer.
It photographs beautifully with neutral tones, soft colours and simple silhouettes that complement the architecture without competing with it.
Best for: Families who love modern architecture, clean compositions and a polished, editorial feeling.
Recommended time: Early morning
Valencia Old Town

Valencia’s Old Town is perfect for families who want their photographs to feel connected to the city and their time in Spain.
Historic streets, warm stone, ornate balconies and small plazas create a setting that feels romantic, timeless and unmistakably Mediterranean. Instead of staying in one spot, we usually follow a gentle walking route through several nearby locations, creating variety without making the session feel rushed.
The Old Town works particularly well for families with older children who enjoy exploring, but it can also be lovely with younger children when we keep the route flexible and allow time for movement.
Early morning is usually the best choice. The streets are quieter, temperatures are more comfortable and we can photograph in popular areas before the city becomes busy. The buildings also provide pockets of soft, flattering light as we move between locations.
Soft neutrals, earthy colours and elegant but comfortable outfits photograph beautifully against the warm architecture.
Best for: Families who love historic streets, European charm and photographs that feel connected to their travels.
Recommended time: Morning or afternoon.
3. Patacona Beach

Patacona Beach, just north of Valencia, is one of our favourite locations for relaxed family photographs by the Mediterranean.
The atmosphere here is completely different from the city. There is space to walk, run, play and let children be themselves, which makes it particularly beautiful for families with younger children.
Rather than spending the session standing still and looking at the camera, families can walk along the shoreline, play in the sand, cuddle and enjoy the evening together. Those natural interactions often become some of the most meaningful photographs.
Sunset is especially beautiful at Patacona. We begin while the light is soft and warm, then continue as the colours become more golden and the beach grows quieter. An early morning session can also work well during summer, particularly for toddlers or families who prefer cooler temperatures.
Bare feet, soft fabrics, neutral tones and gentle Mediterranean colours photograph beautifully here. Most importantly, choose clothing that allows everyone to move comfortably and enjoy the sand.
Best for: Families who want relaxed, natural photographs with movement and a Mediterranean holiday feeling.
Recommended time: Golden hour and sunset, or early morning.
4. Viveros Gardens (Jardines del Real)

Viveros Gardens, officially known as Jardines del Real, is one of our favourite green locations for family photographs in Valencia.
Its mature trees, landscaped paths and quiet corners create a setting that feels natural but still elegant and refined. The gardens offer more visual variety than a simple open park, giving us beautiful layers of greenery, soft light and plenty of space for children to move.
It’s particularly well suited to families with babies, toddlers or children who feel more comfortable exploring than posing. We can walk, play and pause naturally while creating a mixture of wider environmental photographs and closer family moments.
The trees provide welcome shade during warmer months and filter the light beautifully. Morning is usually the quietest option, while late afternoon can create a softer, warmer atmosphere depending on the season.
Viveros feels less recognisably “Valencia” than the City of Arts and Sciences or the Old Town, but it offers something those locations cannot: a peaceful, romantic garden setting away from the busiest parts of the city.
Soft pastels, neutrals, linen and earthy tones photograph especially well against the greenery.
Best for: Families who want elegant, natural photographs in a quiet garden setting.
Recommended time: Morning or late afternoon.
